 Seavey Vineyard

2017 Estate Merlot

Geodessy logo

2017 Eola Springs Pinot Noir

Seavey’s 2017 Merlot offers a perfumed nose of pomegranate, blueberry, licorice, and cinnamon undergirded by subtle savory notes some of which are intriguingly gamey. On the palate, the wine presents baked cherry fruit and a medley of cedar, tobacco, and sandalwood flavors. The wine is mid-weight with smooth rounded tannins and a velvety textured finish. This seductive Merlot speaks to the historic power of our steep hillside vineyards to deliver an exemplary Merlot.

Enticing aromas of raspberry gelée, oolong tea, sage, cedar, a redwood forest floor, and a subtle vanilla caramel. The flavors are quite concentrated, giving to dark cocoa powder, a blueberry reduction sauce, and toffee. Bright and balanced acidity, a velvety grip in texture, with lingering freshness on the finish and tannin structure. The gorgeous deep ruby red color has a very light turbidity as a result of being unfiltered.
